Karen Gillan: Her Journey Into The Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It took Gillan more than just a few selfies to land where she is now!

First of all, did you know that Spoilit has an app where you can post comments about your favorite TV shows, and meet other fans? The download link for our iOS app is right here: http://apple.co/2ggBmef It’s free. Now, onto more about Karen Gillan.

Karen Gillan: Her Journey Into The Marvel Cinematic Universe.

You might recall her from ABC’s Selfie (2014), or perhaps you’ve dabbled into the otherworldly realm of Doctor Who, where she played the role of Amy Pond, companion to the Eleventh Doctor. Maybe you’ve even seen a picture or two of this Scottish actress shaving her head gearing up to play the role of Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So what’s the deal with Karen Gillan (now 30 years old), and how did she make her way to Americas television sets and movie screens before the age of 26?

Karen had always been itching to act, studying acting and performance in school and college. When she finally went to university, the redhead was scouted by a modeling agency. Here she is modeling for Nicola Roberts.

Over the course of her uni years, she continued to act, landing a one episode role on the show Rebus. Let us take a moment to appreciate that 2006 style.

Her first big job fresh after graduation was a two-year stint on The Kevin Bishop Show, where she parodied characters like Katy Perry and Angelina Jolie, both pictured here:

(Digression: The doll is such a nice touch.)

While other twenty-somethings were making fun of celebrities on twitter, here Karen Gillan was “SNL-ing” it up.

She landed a few small roles here and there, but she landed her role as Amy Pond, the Eleventh Doctor’s companion, on Doctor Who without too much down time to speak of. After that, it was pretty much a whirlwind of fame, fandoms, and – the most forgotten – hard work.

There are tons of articles recapping Karens Doctor Who era, but whats most important is that she was a helluva hilarious actress.

Not to mention one sexy police kiss-o-gram.

She landed two feature film roles, the indie Not Another Happy Ending, and the horror film Oculus (which you should totally 100% watch). Creepy mirrors? What more do you need.

Don’t get used to that long hair. After she won the hearts of an international, diehard fandom, she had to shave her head for her role in Guardians of the Galaxy. That’s right – this Scottish celebrity did not shaved her head voluntarily? (Cough, Sinead O’Connor, cough)

Karen herself even described her face as the moon.

We can’t totally disagree!

So what’s the deal with Selfie (ABC 2014)? How did this B.A., head shaving, galaxy gal end up on that silly and short-lived ABC #Selfie show?

Well here’s the deal, it was actually a modern day twist on My Fair Lady. Karen played Eliza Doolittle, and actually, the show premiered with decent ratings and reviews. Maybe tone back on the initial accent and marketing, and this could’ve been a hot show.

What are your thoughts? Do you prefer Karen in The Marvel Cinematic Universe or on Dr. Who?.
