To play a legendary historical character that has been portrayed by Anthony Hopkins, Sean Connery and Richard Harris – amongst other acting greats – is hard enough, but to do it in a musical comedy adds another layer of difficulty. So Timothy Omundson, who plays King Richard the Lionheart in ABC’s medieval musical romp Galavant, has his work cut out for him. Even comic versions of King Richard are played by classy British actors like Patrick Stewart!
Well, luckily, Timothy’s got parts like this covered. He knows royalty from Xena: Warrior Princess, fantasy from Supernatural and history from Deadwood. In fact, Timothy’s been in the business so much for so long, he participated in a documentary about ubiquitous character actors called The Guy…Who was in that Thing!
He was a regular on Judging Amy (for which we still don’t) and provided characters for Star Wars video games, which were all we had of the franchise for a long while! So Timothy Omundson is not just the King of England in Galavant, he’s the King of Primetime TV!
